We love to design our games with loads of interaction between the players. If your actions can’t affect the other players then it isn’t really a game as far as we’re concerned. In most games, you’re out to thwart everyone else and win the game by disadvantaging everyone else:- killing their King, pocketing their money, grabbing their land or something equally anti-social.

But there is another type of game, one where you have to co-operate (to a greater or lesser extent) to get to the top. Sometimes you win or lose as a team. Other times the game wins if you don’t work together against it, but at the end only one player WINS.
